You iz nutz

Put it down before you break it

I'll tell you what amazed me. How long the magazines last! It seems like it takes forever to empty the bleeders and they're only the standard TM VSR jobs :?

Well - Schöne Liselotte has gone back to Der Waffenmeister von Schpawton....... He has already made a fake takedown catch and was eagerly showing me his plans for fake breech mods....... She performed well at the weekend but the sight picture is way off. Sadly we can't do a lot about that but hopefully a small mod and some practice should correct it. The guys at Ariel also gave me tips on using heavier ammo which is the next step.

No doubt he will pictorially update you as modifications are completed. I just can't wait to get out on to the field again and see what she does...... IF he finishes her in time she may go to Beltring for a bit of plinking practice.

Photos as promised:

Cut up as rough as a badgers arse:

All the angles rounded off nicely and rear part sloped backwards. Needs the stripper clip slot cutting and filing, and then it'll be smoothed over with my fine files. Once it's attached to the rear part, I'll file the depression on the top at the rear.

Oooooh, baby! Rear receiver finished except for the flattened bit at the back, which I can't do until it's attached to the rear.

Comparison with genuine Mauser:

The front holes will be covered by the chamber band and the rear one will be filed and filled once it's all together.

Looking great BP :good: It's amazing how good the results are you can get with simple hand files and a good dollop of elbow grease!

Thank you :) I'm very pleased with it, especially considering the box full of crap it started off as. When I was first shown it, I didn't know where it was going to go. The only usable bits from what PD bought himself were the VSR bolt, receiver, hop, inner barrel and zero trigger, plus the Dboys rear sight (not used), magwell plate, barrel bands (not used), outer barrel and front sight. The stock was garbage, and looked like it had been carved out with a soup spoon, badly, and the trigger guard, bolt and the rest of the Dboys bits were missing. The seller wouldn't even answer Pauls PMs about the missing bits, but he's too polite (really, he is) to push it. Luckily, an unwanted complete Dboys was donated to the cause by Stig, who is a top bloke.

Be on the lookout for a man using a shite Dboys K98 stock as a cricket bat at an event soon :good:

Now to find an optimum weight bb to use - It chrono'd 404, 372, 360,374 at Ariel using .2 - So I'm happy. Seemed to fly off after about 30m though but that could have been the hop (which Baggy didn't mention but can be adjusted with the gun complete) that needed setting.

Will give it a run tomorrow using .25s - see how the range/accuracy fares.....

How fecking happy am I at that beauty!!!!!!

Really excellent mate! The finish is absolutely sublime! your rear-sight integration is absolutely seemless. What Primer/Paint did you use on it?

I see you went for hop ajustment via hand-guard removal only. possibly a good call as I have on occasion knocked mine out of setting during use, and of course its another slight in-accuracy compared to the RS.

The bar has definitly been upped yet another level, I'm going to have to work very very hard to top that with my current undertaking :x

Very likely to be the hop putting some side as well as top spin on the BB. Is it the stock VSR hop rubber? If so get it replaced with a nine-ball or Firefly (HARD Type) hop rubber. this will also give you an increase in FPS due to improved air seal.

Even then it takes at least 1000 rds to get a hop properly bedded in.
